This design takes you to the coffin of Peftjaoeneith, a temple administrator who lived around 650 BC in ancient Egypt. It shows two of the four Sons of Horus: Duamutef with his jackal head and Qebehsenuef with his falcon head. These gods had a crucial task: protecting the organs of the deceased on the journey to the afterlife.
The hieroglyphs around them contain spells from the Book of the Dead and the name of Peftjaoeneith himself, exactly as they were painted on the coffin 2,600 years ago. Every colour and symbol is knitted into the sock, from the bright blue and green to the fine hieroglyphs between the gods.
Limited edition, made in collaboration with the Rijksmuseum van Oudheden (National Museum of Antiquities) in Leiden.
