This design shows the broad collar that Peftjaoeneith wore on his journey to the afterlife. Called 'wesekh' in ancient Egyptian, such collars were placed on the body and painted on coffins as protection for eternity. On the shoulders are two falcon heads, the clasps referring to the god Horus or Sokar.
Every layer of the collar is knitted in: the geometric patterns, the flowers in red, blue and green, and the red sun disc in the centre. A wearable piece of history about how the Egyptians believed beauty could outlast death.
Limited edition, made in collaboration with the Rijksmuseum van Oudheden (National Museum of Antiquities) in Leiden.
