Pomegranate, listed simply as 'Fruit' in the Morris & Co. catalogue, is one of William Morris's first wallpapers, released in 1866. It is also one of his richest: crossing branches with split pomegranates, lemons, small flowers and dense leaves. No symmetrical ornaments, just plants as they really grow, which was quietly radical at the time.
We chose the blue colourway: a pale blue base with the fruit and leaves in green, ochre and red. William Morris, 'Fruit' (Pomegranate), 1865-66.
