This design tells the story of the coffin of Peftjaoeneith through two sacred birds. On one side stands Horus, the falcon god and son of Osiris, who was responsible for his father's burial rites. On the other side is the owl, the hieroglyph for the sound 'm', followed by a flagstaff referring to the creator god Atum.
The warm ochre, blue and green are taken directly from the original pigments on the 2,600-year-old coffin. A sock that is also a small lesson in the language of the ancient Egyptians.
Limited edition, made in collaboration with the Rijksmuseum van Oudheden (National Museum of Antiquities) in Leiden.
